COVID-19 VACCINATION

 Two Homegrown Vaccines- COVAXIN & COVISHILED

Covaxin is India's first fully developed and produced COVID-19 vaccine, made by Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech.                  Covishield is originally developed by Oxford University- Astrazeneca ,it has been produced and marketed as 'Covishield' by Pune based vaccine conglomerate, Serum Institute of India (SII).

Unlike the global frontrunners,  Pfizer and Moderna which rely on an mRNA technology. Covishield or AZD-1222 makes use of a viral vector while Covaxin is made using an inactive version of the virus.

Government in India has announced free vaccination to start from  healthcare workers, other frontline workers and citizens above 50 years of age and then to every citizen of India .50-60 million vaccines are readily available .It is compulsory to take two injections. First on day 1 and second on day 28th.

No final word on costing has been received yet. Since both vaccines have been domestically manufactured and don't require special storage, the price will be reasonable depending on the vaccination schedule and needs in near future.

The vaccines have been certified 100% safe and reliable, having shown good results in clinical trails (animal, human ,phase || and phase ||| )however some side effects like mild fever ,pain and allergy are common for every vaccine so don't worry and get your vaccine shot. But still follow the protection norms-wear masks, use sanitizers and maintain social distancing.
